Osmosis is a decentralized exchange (DEX) appchain in the Cosmos ecosystem. As an appchain, Osmosis functions as both a Layer-1 blockchain and an application. Osmosis' blockchain was built by forking the Cosmos SDK and is secured by Tendermint, a Byzantine Fault-Tolerant (BFT) Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
